Mineral County Officials Announce Second Death From COVID-19
Mineral County health officials announce second death from COVID-19
Mineral, Colo. (February 27, 2021)
Silver Thread Public Health District on Saturday announced its 2nd death from the coronavirus (COVID-19). The individual was a male in his 70s. He was a full time resident, with long standing roots in Creede. The individual was confirmed with COVID-19 and later transferred to a hospital in Denver at which time his health declined and lead to death.
This is not just a number we see on the world ticker of COVID-19 impact, but rather it’s a significant marker bringing reality to a small town that typically finds comfort in feeling isolated and protected from global events. In a moment where the world encourages distancing, our community grieves together. The loss of a long time resident – friend, neighbor, and familiar face among us all – is incomprehensible. We offer our deepest condolences to all of his family and friends as we navigate a new time void of his presence.
The first death in Mineral County occurred toward the end of 2020 when a deceased individual tested positive on scene and later according to the medical examiner was determined to have passed due to COVID. A tragic loss felt by many. We extend sincerest condolences to friends and family of this individual as well.
Public Health is doing everything we can to reduce the transmission further and hope everyone will join us in realizing the severity of this virus by doing their part to stop the spread. We are stronger than this. Please take masking and social distancing efforts seriously and when you are able to get the vaccine, please do.
